Mi Familia Vota Supports Making Nevada First In Future Presidential Primaries
Washington D.C.– Mi Familia Vota, the largest national civic engagement organization that unites Latino, immigrant, and allied communities to promote social and economic justice, is announcing our support for the battleground state of Nevada to hold the first primary contest in the presidential nominating calendar for the Democratic Party.
Héctor Sánchez Barba, Executive Director and CEO of Mi Familia Vota, said:
“Latinos played a defining role in the 2022 midterm elections; our vote protected our democracy up and down the ballot. The axis of Latino political power is now south and west. It only makes sense that Nevada, a diverse battleground state, should go first in the Democratic presidential primary. We know that Latino voices are part of a multi-racial, multi-generational coalition of voters that is the present and future of our democracy. Nevada is representative of that diversity, working-class Latino, Black, Asian American, Native American, and white voters. As such, it only makes sense that we make Nevada first in the nation.”
